JUSTIN SPARKS

Criminal Defense Attorney

If you are currently under investigation or have been arrested, the government has likely already begun and potentially even completed their argument against your case. Now is the time to begin yours. You need to be PROactive, NOT Reactive. As a criminal defense attorney and former assistant district attorney, Justin Sparks has earned the respect of judges and prosecutors by resolving and litigating criminal cases.

Justin Sparks uses only experienced investigators and proven consultants, and will test arguments and strategies in mock trials. If the need arises for expert testimony, you need an attorney with access to–and experience with–the best experts. A winning result only comes with preparation and hard work.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND

Justin Sparks was born in Houston, Texas and, before high school, he and his family moved to their family ranch in Weimar, Texas. Justin graduated from Weimar High School and then attended Baylor University, where he double majored in Economics and Real Estate and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

After Baylor, Justin attended Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (what is now known as Texas A&M School of Law) in Fort Worth, Texas and received his J.D. in 2007.

LEGAL BACKGROUND

Upon graduating law school, Justin was hired by Tim Curry the elected DA at the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney where he handled grand jury investigations and presentations, plea negotiations, hearings, trials before the court, and jury trials. In his time there, Justin was responsible for thousands of cases and tried more than one hundred cases. After two years with the DA’s office, Justin moved to private practice focusing on state and federal criminal defense where he became a partner.

In 2015, Justin decided to leave the firm and open his own practice, continuing with a focus on criminal defense. The Sparks Law Firm covers all criminal defense practice areas, including everything from DWI and misdemeanor charges, to self defense cases and federal charges. Justin also brings an expert knowledge to Texas firearms and carry cases during a time when what is legal and what is not can be very confusing.

Throughout his legal career, Justin has given many speeches in the Dallas and Fort Worth areas on topics including self defense, the use of deadly force, and when to stand your ground. Check Justin out In the News to view more appearances, talks, and stories he’s been featured in.

RECOGNITION & AWARDS

Super Lawyers Up and Coming.png

Not only was Justin selected as a Rising Star in 2017, but he also made the year’s list for “Up-and-Coming 100 Rising Stars.” This list is pulled from lawyers across the state, across all legal practice areas.

Justin Sparks is “honored, thrilled, and humbled to be included on the list once again. At the end of the day, the most important opinion is that of my client,” says Justin. “However, it is always nice to receive such a prestigious recognition.” You can view Justin Sparks’ Super Lawyer profile, and the full list of Top 100 Rising Stars, 2017 on SuperLawyers.com.

Justin Sparks has been selected by peer vote and recognized as a Super Lawyer for 2019 – 2022 (Thomson Reuters service printed in Texas Monthly). Prior to that, he was recognized by Thomson Reuters as a Rising Star in Criminal Law for four consecutive years (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017). The selection process is US patented and includes nominations, independent research, peer evaluations, and a final selection. The result is a list of Rising Stars made up of less that 2.5% of attorneys in Texas.

Justin Sparks has also been chosen as a Fort Worth Top Attorney 2012 – 2022 and is honored to have a spot on FW Magazine’s “top list.” To be on the top list, lawyers must first be nominated by another attorney in the area, after which they are subjected to FWTX’s quality check panel. Fort Worth Magazine updates FW residents on many different categories of “bests,” but the top attorneys is the one we always look forward to most.
