CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN ACCUSATIONS

Members of the general public are quick to condemn someone accused of a crime against a child, this is why you must seek the services of a qualified criminal defense attorney. A qualified attorney can help you deal with the antagonism and wrongful conclusions that may arise before the case is even scheduled for trial. Hire a Fort Worth attorney who can help you clear your name from child exploitation or endangerment charges.

Justin Sparks is an experienced Fort Worth criminal defense attorney with prior experience in cases involving child endangerment charges. He begins with a free confidential consultation with you to analyze your case and outline the steps he will take to prepare your defense. Many times, a thorough investigation can uncover the falsity of the allegations against you. Other times, a trial will establish that there is not enough evidence to prove the accusation beyond a reasonable doubt.

CRIMES AGAINST ARREST

Injury to a Child

This offense occurs if you intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence cause bodily injury, serious bodily injury, or serious mental injury/impairment to a child younger than 15 years of age.

Depending on the nature of the act and the severity of the injury, punishment can range from a state jail felony with imprisonment for up to two years to a first degree felony with a punishment of five to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Child Endangerment or Abandonment

This offense occurs in one of two ways. Charges can be brought against you if you intentionally abandon a child under circumstances that exposes the child to unreasonable risk of harm. Or, you may be charged with intentionally/knowingly/recklessly/negligently acting in a way that puts a child under the age of 15 in danger of death or injury.

Punishment for abandoning or endangering a child ranges from up to two years in state jail to two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Justin was my lawyer for a case I had with Tarrant County. He was very responsive, professional, and helped us sooo much! I ended up having everything dismissed. Definitely highly recommend!

I cannot say enough good things about this law firm! They took care of me and immediately started working my case. They knew exactly what to do as soon as I told them my story.

DEFENSES FOR CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN

Crimes Against Child.jpg

Possible defenses, depending upon the facts of the case, are as follows:

  • The accusation made against you is false

  • The injury to the child was not caused by you

  • The injury is a minor one and was a result of reasonable discipline by a parent, grandparent, or guardian

  • The evidence brought against you is insufficient

Because juries and judges are generally unsympathetic to individuals charged with these types of crimes, you should not delay in preparing your defense.
